We all hope our pups will be well behaved when we take them away from the house. How do we ensure this will happen though? By taking trips to different locations and working on the basic skills we've taught them. Adding distractions in a way to proof and sure up your training. Taking your training from inside the house to the backyard is one step, move to the front yard, then going to a new location with some distractions helps. I have taken pups on walks to different parks and little do they realize we are training. I pick a few things to work on each time. Sit, walk, touch, up, down and wait. The pup is usually super excited for the new location so I give them permission to sniff first then I'll work on the other skills and that is where and when I get some great pictures. Whenever we move our pups to new locations we need to give them a few minutes to adjust and then we can move into proofing or teaching depending on our goal. All of the basic skills they are taught should be able to be accomplished with distractions and change of locations.
